About Global Optimism

Global Optimism was co-founded by Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac on leaving the UN, having overseen the delivery of the landmark Paris Agreement. 

It has since grown into a small and nimble team dedicated to a clear mission to play our part in catalysing actions toward halving global emissions by 2030, laying the groundwork for a regenerative world where all people and nature can thrive.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Executive Assistant to support Global Optimism’s co-founder, Tom Rivett-Carnac, as well as providing light touch support to the wider team in the day to day running of the organisation. 

As this job will involve liaising with stakeholders in multiple time zones, some out of hours work will be expected. Occasional travel may also be needed.

Personal Qualities, Experience and Skills

  • Executive Assistant experience in a former role, including complex diary management and prioritisation
  • A proactive approach and ability to work autonomously, with limited supervision
  • Experience of working through competing priorities, in consultation with GO’s co-founder and other relevant team members
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to understand complex organisational dynamics
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with senior stakeholders from a range of sectors
  • Discretion and diplomacy
  • Comfortable working in a virtual-office environment (familiarity with Google Workspaces would be advantageous)
  • Highly motivated and productive in a remote environment
  • Flexible and adaptable, open to change and new information
  • Interest in climate change solutions

Key Responsibilities

  • Diary management for GO co-founder, including liaising with attendees in multiple timezones
  • Scheduling of team meetings, one-to-ones, podcast recordings and virtual events
  • Planning and booking complex travel
  • Support with management of email inbox
  • Reconciliation of business expenses
  • Basic business administration and tracking, in coordination with Operations Lead and external accountants
  • Organising and maintaining company systems, including holiday tracking, administrator requests etc
